what is the best drill bit set?
hey im going to be buying my dad a drill bit set for christmas and i want to know what is the best type of bit (carbide steel titanium and so on)
what will be the most strongest for general applications? he uses them on golf clubs most, but will be using them for random things.
i want to buy him a worthwhile set with maybe a nice warantee. any of you know of any such set?

If your Dad is mainley going to be drilling metal things, then I would go for a Titanium Drill Bit Set. don’t be cheep and try to save a buck. You will only get low quality bits, that break,bend and only good for drilling one hole.Whatever brand you get, take a look at his drill first. The size of the drill chuck will determine what drills to get. If it is a 3/8 inch drillchuck, then only drill bits that have a 3/8 shank will fit into it.That’s unless you can find a drill set that has all 3/8 shanks on them. A1/2 ” Drill will hold any bit that has up to a 1/2″ shank. A 1/4 ” Drill will only hold a bit that is 1/4 “, but I dought if anyone has one of those anymore.(1/4 drill ) Don’t get a set just because it looks impressive either. Most of those larger sizes are very seldom used. ( Any thing above a 1/2 bit .) If a larger bit is needed, then people usually use a holesaw or a spade bit. (wood or metal ) and that is not very often for a just around the house person. When looking for a set of drill bits, get a good quality one,they usually have a warrenty against defects in the craftmanship. And one with a case ,is nice to have. But like I said, don’t buy one just because they are impressive looking. You’ll be waisting your money. Get a set from 1/16th through 1/2″ Titanium.Stay away from sets that top brand power tool makers sell.( Like Makita,Ryiobi, Dewalt, ) They are usually made at the same factory,but they cost more because their names are on it. A good brand to shop for are, Black and Decker, Craftsman, Master Mecanics. You are getting what you are paying for when shopping for bits that way. Good Luck, Byeee
