How come a full sized 1/2 ton pickup will actually carry between 1,600 and 2,000 pounds?
The “rating” seems meaningless and not connected with reality.
the rating is “per axle” if your truck is a 1/2 ton, you can load 1/2 ton for the rear axle and 1/2 ton for the front axle(steering axle) 1/2 + 1/2 = 1 ton or 2000 lbs
