How many teeth in a circular saw blade should I buy for cutting plywood and 2×4′s?
I am going to buy a carbide-tipped blade. I heard that the more teeth the better the cut, then why not get the most teeth?
Definitely use a carbide tip blade. As far as how many teeth, generally the more teeth, the better the cut, but there are different grinds (profiles) and angles that teeth are set on the blade which effect the quality of the cut also. But a blade with more teeth will work harder to make a cut. For rough lumber, I prefer a blade with fewer teeth, but that number depends on the diameter of the blade as well. For cutting plywood, you didn’t mention if your talking about plywood used for cabinets, or sheathing. Again rough sheathing doesn’t need a lot of teeth. Also more teeth means more money. Most blades have a description on the package for the type of material they are recommended to be cutting. I would pick a blade that matches the material your cutting. If you plan on doing a lot of cutting, spend a little more on the blade. A good core is worth paying for, since you can always resharpen the blade and make it like new.
